The one & only: The Consortium secures £10million contract for educational supplies with Bristol City Council

10th March 2004

The Consortium, the award-winning, national purchasing and distribution company, announced today its latest contract win with Bristol City Council. The five-year contract for supplies of educational products to Bristol City Council is estimated to be worth £2 million per annum

Melanie Teal, Customer Director at The Consortium comments: “We are delighted to secure this contract with Bristol City Council, which has been a customer of ours for many years. We feel that our commitment to excellent customer service, together with a wide range of innovative products and services, has supported our efforts to secure sole education supplier status with the council.

The contract will offer Bristol City Council and its schools access to over 30,000 products and services at highly competitive prices, supported by free delivery, a no-quibble exchange policy and a range of ordering methods. Steve Robertson, Assistant Director for Educations Resources and Support Services with Bristol City Council, comments:

"The city council is delighted to be extending its working relationship with The Consortium and we look forward to continuing that relationship and the delivery of a quality, value-for-money service."

“We have been working with Bristol City Council for the last three years on an e-procurement project to meet the need for the Government’s e-procurement deadline in 2005, in addition to being a major supplier for the wider council. Our relationship is developing further with this contract win, which we hope will send the message to other local authorities that The Consortium is a first class supplier, committed to meeting the needs of the education and social care sectors
